Knowing how to code can be a very valuable asset. Coding is a skill we can all use, considering the fact that we all use technology and software on a daily basis. Plus, once you know how to code, you can also create websites or software by yourself!

Here are three fun and easy apps that can help beginners learn to code.

Encode:

Encode is a coding app that was designed specifically for beginners. The app provides bite-sized lessons with real coding examples in order to get you more familiar with the skillset. Encode also provides interactive coding challenges in order to test your skills as you go.

According to the app’s description, “Learning to code doesn’t have to be boring. Our coding path teaches the essentials from running quick calculations in code to using functions, with no prior coding experience required. Ever wanted to start making web pages, but just didn’t know where to start? Our Web Fundamentals path is perfect for you. We’ll teach you the essentials of HTML and CSS, the two languages that sit behind every beautiful website, by making mini webpages using real code.”

Encode is free and available for download on iOS and Android devices.

Tynker:

While Tynker is a programming app that was technically designed to help kids learn to code, it can also be fun and helpful for adults too. After all, every adult is a kid a heart, right? Tynker teaches you the basics of coding by allowing you to create your own games using puzzles. The app allows you to learn the system and experiment until you are ready to move on to JavaScript and Python.

According to the app’s website,In today’s digital world, coding is a fundamental skill alongside math and reading, but too few kids have the opportunity to learn to program because it is rarely taught in school.”

The description continues, “Tynker’s mission is to create a fun and engaging platform where children not only learn to program, but also have opportunities to be creative using code.”

Tynker is free and available for download on iOS devices.

Hopscotch:

Hopscotch is another coding app that was designed to help make learning to code fun. The app helps you make games like Tynker does, and it ensures that you will have as much fun making the games as you do playing them. You can learn the fundamentals of programming by using blocks, “the favored way to learn to program from Harvard and MIT to Code.org and Google.” Once you learn the basics, the app will dive into teaching you the syntax of coding languages.

According to the app’s description, “Hopscotch is coding made for you. Learn to code by making things you enjoy playing. Our award-winning block-based language was built from the ground up to be used on your touchscreen iOS device. With Hopscotch, you get a blank canvas for your imagination, a community filled with inspiration, and an audience to begin using your products the moment you publish them. Start your journey as a coder with our easy-to-follow tutorials. Immediately apply what you’ve learned to make your own art and games. We’ve taught millions of kids across the world to code, and bring the direct experience of educators from MIT, Princeton, Girls Who Code, and Xerox Parc.”

Start your coding journey today and download Hopscotch for free on iOS devices.
