Have you been wanting to add a little spark to your room but don’t know how? If so, we’ve got you covered! Here are some adorable, fun, and stylish treasures you can DIY to decorate and re-energize your space.
Terrariums, if you aren’t familiar, are cute collections of small plants growing in a transparent container. They’re lovely to look at, and, according to this DIY’s creator Nicole Guerriero, easy to make! This way you won’t have to spend up to $200 buying a pre-made terrarium, and can take a little more personal pleasure away from watching your homemade plant-home flourish.
You’ll need a clear, preferably spherical glass container. (Plastic works as well). You’ll also need small plants of your choice – cacti from Home Depot usually look great in terrariums. You should have mixed stones, moss, and/or pebbles, found at Michaels, Home Depot, or easiest of all, outside. Lastly, make sure to also have potting mix and activated charcoal.
Add your pebbles and small stones to the container. Then add a small layer of activated charcoal on top to keep everything inside your terrarium fresh and healthy. Next, add a small layer of soil. Now comes time to plant! Start with the largest plant first, making sure to plant it at the same level as it was in its original pot.
From here, just add in any other plants you want in your terrarium. When this is done, you can add in more pebbles, trinkets, and other little decorative touches you’d like to make the terrarium as unique and personal as you want it to be.
Clothesline Photo Display
This DIY is very easy – so easy that there aren’t even steps to it. All you’ll need is thick string (twine usually works best), clothespins, and some photographs or polaroids that you love! You can do a few rows of photos, or just hang a single line. Just stick both ends of your twine to the chosen wall, leaving the twine’s mid-section loose. Then, evenly distribute your photos with the clothespins across the line.
This DIY’s popularity probably has a lot to do with how easy it is, and also how great it looks. Feel free to add flowers or other lightweight hanging decorations to your line!
For this DIY, you’ll need some artificial flowers. Michaels is the perfect spot to find a wide array of colorful choices. Try to stick to one color scheme though, as this will make the final product look much more cohesive. Cut each flower away from the long stem, leaving a small bit of stem behind. This DIY’s creator, Ashley Nicole, has a great video with a helpful play-by-play on how this should look. The stems should all be the same length. Ashley uses 16 flowers total, and arranges the flowers into four rows of four (this can vary depending on how wide your headboard is).
Now, all you need to do is hot glue gun the bottom of the stem of one flower to the inner petals of another, until you have four separate chains of four. Be sure to
Once you’re all done, tie some fishing wire or clear string to the top flower, and then just hang each chain onto a command hook, or even tape with clear tape if you see fit! By the looks of Ashley’s video, this DIY is beautiful and such a rewarding project to try out.
Happy crafting! We hope your new DIY pieces are just as Pinterest-worthy as these creators’ final products are.
