Leave chapped lips behind with these DIY lip scrubs that are super easy to make and smell delicious—don’t lick your lips too much though! That would be a tad counterproductive.
The first lip scrub DIY we’ll be exploring is a cinnamon lip scrub, thanks to Hello Glow. You will need 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, ½ tablespoon of olive oil, ½ tablespoon of raw honey, and ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon powder.
Combine all of these ingredients in a bowl and mix them up. Once the gooey mix has a consistent combination of all the components, apply a bit to your lips with your fingertips. The consistency of the scrub will remove any dry skin cells. Follow up with a warm water rinse and some lip balm! Your lips should feel super smooth and plump after their catered spa treatment.
Our second DIY lip scrub is a bubblegum lip scrub! Sounds like it will smell and taste amazing, right? You will need 1 tablespoon of sugar, ½ teaspoon of olive oil, 2 drops of bubblegum flavoring (this DIY creator, Hairspray and Highheels, found her flavoring on Amazon) and 3 drops of food coloring to create the illusion of pink goodness. This last ingredient is optional, though!
Add your ingredients to a bowl in this order: sugar, bubblegum flavor, food coloring, olive oil. Mix them together, and enjoy your pink scrub! If you do take a taste of your lips every once in a while before wiping this scrub off, we’d understand.
Our final lip scrub DIY is customizable for you, and made for more than one use! The DIY is credited to the blog Queen of All You See. You will need a lip gloss jar, sugar, petroleum jelly, and a favorite lip balm! (Mine would be my raspberry lemonade Blistex).
In a cup, mix a small amount of petroleum jelly, a chunk of your lip balm (just a small slice taken off the top of it) and sugar. Add more sugar for a grainier lip scrub, or more jelly for a smoother one.
Transfer your lip scrub to your lip gloss jar, and you’ll have lip scrub for more than one occasion in your favorite flavor!
Chapped lips will be a thing of the past with these DIYs. Treat your lips, and your taste buds, and enjoy!
