As a magazine, our editorial team is pretty central to our success. As a Lead Editor, you’ll not just be on this very important team, but you’ll be top dog. You’ll have a say in what writers we hire and what type of articles we write. In this position, you will gain some valuable experience in editing, all while proving yourself in a management role. You’d be crazy not to want to put that on your résumé.

You have:

• Experience in editing
• Proficiency in WordPress
• Excellent communication skills and time management skills
• Ability to work 15 hours/week for 6 consecutive months

You will:

• Edit and review the weekly magazine publication(s) prior to the posting deadlines
• Manage writers and editors to ensure they are completing assignments by the required deadlines
• Oversee the entire editorial and writing team
• Contribute new column ideas and other content for the website
• Ensure the magazine’s vision and standards are upheld

“Punctuation Prodigy”
Are you the friend that everyone asks to proofread their work? Do even your texts, tweets, and statuses have impeccable grammar? If so, it sounds like you’re made for this role! Plus, you’ll get some great experience learning how an online publication operates.

You have:

• Experience with WordPress
• Editing experience a plus
• Excellent written and oral English language skills
• Ability to work 15 hours/week for 6 consecutive months

You will:

• Complete first-round edits multiple nights a week
• Assist with general editorial and writing needs
• Support various editorial projects or other editing needs
• Assist with brainstorming for innovative column ideas

“WordPress Wiz”
Our writers do something pretty important: write the articles that our readers love! However, our Content Management Interns do something just as important: post the articles so people can actually read them. You have:

• Extensive experience using WordPress
• Familiarity with Flickr and other free photo-sharing websites
• Experience in editing (preferred)
• Knowledge of SEO and meta-tags
• Ability to work 15 hours/week for 6 consecutive months

You will:

• Take charge of posting articles and photos on WordPress
• Format each article properly, adding images from photographers or from the Internet
• Create and write SEO tags and descriptions for each article and photo
• Ensure all writers/editors are getting their work in by the required posting deadlines
