Five Must-Have Fashion Trends for Spring

As the blustery days of winter curl up and retreat into hibernation, signs of spring begin peeking through in the subtlest of ways. A bird’s chirp, a blue sky and brightly colored storefronts signal the arrival of warmer weather and this season’s coveted trends.

As the temperatures rise, so do our desires to refresh our closets and create a new beginning. Take that excitement and run with it! This is the year to be creative, start new and appreciate what’s going on around you.

It doesn’t take a lot to incorporate these trends into your wardrobe, so keep these tips in mind and you will be on your way to a more confident, fashion-forward you.

1. Lavish Leather – Nothing says luxury like buttery-soft leather. This emblematic rocker chic textile found its way onto this spring’s runway and has never looked more glamorous. Whether it’s a dress, a pencil pant or a pair of too-short shorts, this luxe fabric is an easy integration into your current wardrobe.

A graphic tee and sandal are the perfect toppers for a lunch date when paired these BB Dakota leather shorts. Reach for your leather dress and pop-of-color clutch when heading out for a night with the girls and you will be sure to turn heads in this must-have spring trend.

2. Low Heel – Spring left its five-inch stilettos in the closet and replaced them with a lower, more natural heel.

These Zara kitten-like kicks provide the sass of a platform without the embarrassing stumbles and necessary death grips on staircase railings. A lower heel is the perfect day-to-night accessory, and don’t be surprised when you hear your feet whispering, “thank you.”
3. Nature-Inspired Prints – Nothing says spring like the leisurely blossom of flowers or the whooshing sound of a river. Nature played a big role in this year’s fashion trends as these colorful images made their way onto spring’s most sought-after fabrics.

This nature inspired Alice + Olivia print dress is a must-have for any outdoor get-together or celebration.  Turning heads and reveling in the beauty around us go hand-in-hand, making this craze truly swoon-worthy.

4. Bold Blacks & Whites – Black and white paved their way into the hearts and closets of women years ago. This year the dynamic duo grabbed our attention with its bold prints and attention seeking color combinations. The days of the LBD are no more as this dramatic marriage pursues every eye in the room.

Keep an eye out for black and white attention-grabbing pieces like this Marc Jacobs silk jersey dress. For more of an every day look, pair an over-the-top blouse with a black skinny jean or white distressed shorts. A black and white statement skirt would be perfect for the office when paired with a tailored black blazer. Your looks in this color palette are truly endless – just remember: the more drama you can rattle up, the better!
5. Cut-Outs – Warmer temperatures seem to inspire less coverage, as is the case with this spring’s cut-out trend. A glimpse of skin is glamorously sexy while remaining appropriately tasteful. I am predicting this is a going to be a popular trend among spring and summer wedding guests.

A peek-a-boo cutout dress like this two-tone gown from BCBG MAXAZRIA is perfect for any girl who is ready to loosen up, have a few cocktails and dance the night away feeling confident and sexy.
The color of a single bloom, or in this case a fabulous dress, invigorates the excitement and thrill that winter seems to capture. Spring trends are the start of something new, so allow yourself to indulge. It feels so good.
