Summer is fast approaching, but COVID-19 shows no signs of stopping. Don’t let the global pandemic and stay-at-home orders keep you from enjoying the summer sun! Here are four ways to soak in the summer while continuing to quarantine.

  1. Go for a walk

Whether you’re all alone or quarantining with friends or family, taking a walk outside in the fresh air is a great way to enjoy the summer weather. Plus, walking is one of the best forms of casual exercise because, regardless of fitness level, almost everyone can enjoy a nice, relaxing walk. If you’re a bit more of a health nut, you can enjoy a nice jog or run for a better burn. Either way, get out there and get moving! Just be sure to stay six feet apart from any neighbors or passersby so that your summer fun doesn’t turn into a summer ick!

  1. Sunbathe

If you have space, lay out a lounger or even just a towel, lather up in some sunscreen, and have some summer fun in the sun! Of course, be sure that you don’t spend all day in the sun or forgo the proper precautions to avoid the nasty side effects of extended sun exposure. If you don’t have space, pop open the blinds and let some sun into your home! It may not be the same as lying out in the sunlight, but it will let some light and some summer into your life!

  1. Garden

Whether you have access to a large yard or not, gardening is for everyone and now is the perfect time to start! If you have a large yard, find a space that gets plenty of sun and get to planting whatever tickles your fancy! If you’re limited in space or entirely indoors, you can start an indoor herb garden for cooking or adopt a few succulents. Either way, the possibilities are endless!

  1. Play with pets

If you’re lucky enough to have a furry friend, especially one of a canine variety, take the time to have some summer fun in their company! If you have a yard, let them loose and play a game of fetch or even just enjoy the fresh air with them! If you don’t have a yard or your furry friend is an indoor pet, take some time to treat them to their favorite toys or spend some time cuddling with them. Your pets love you and they’ll love spending the time with you, even if they don’t quite understand why you’re home all the time now!
