Heroic Dog Saves Baby Deer From Drowning

Many people admit to finding the news either boring or just too depressing to watch, and that can be true. The majority of the stories we see on TV or read about online seem to rarely contain any good news. This story, however, puts all of that grimness on the back burner and is honestly just way too cute.

Not that we needed any more proof, but this story basically proves that dogs are better than humans in every way possible. Last week, a dog named Storm was on his daily walk with his owner along the Long Island Sound. The two happened upon a baby deer struggling in the water. Storm, being the national hero that we have come to know him as, swiftly hurried to the other animal’s rescue and dragged it to shore.

Storm’s owner, Mark Freely, had to share the incredible story and decided to post a video to Facebook documenting the event. It may be the purest thing I’ve ever seen. The video is aptly captioned, “What a morning…can’t believe this…Storm just saved this baby deer from PJ Harbor…”

The video immediately captured people’s attention as commenters swarmed in to express their amazement. After all, everyone loves baby animals.

Members of Strong Island Animal League, who responded to the incident, stated that that the fawn was taken to the STAR Foundation, a nonprofit organization that rescues and cares for animals. They also assured the public that the fawn “has a few superficial wounds from her exciting day but will survive.”

The group’s Facebook page on Sunday read, “It is physically, mentally and emotionally draining. It was an amazing group effort today.” According to Time, when asked about the incident, Strong Island Animal League said, “Rescue isn’t easy but it’s always rewarding with stories like this.”

Oh, such a heartwarming story of a sweet dog. In the animal kingdom it’s sometimes even more touching than with us humans.
    Thanks for this amazing story.
