Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, noticing the world’s consumption of wine during COVID-19 social distancing, decided to partner with Walla Walla-based winery Nocking Point to release a Quarantine Pinot Noir.
The duo has decided to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from every bottle sold to four charities they believe strongly in. In a video released by the winery, the duo shared their plan for the wine, saying that unprecedented times call for “more drinking!”
It was Mila Kunis’ idea to create a wine and sell it for donations. The two decided on Nocking Point as they are a big fan of the winery. Together, they came up with the design and the label.
The label says “toasting to you” with a blank spot, so you can write in who you’re toasting with, be it friends or family you are not able to be physically near. The website is already taking pre-orders for the 2018 vintage of Pinot Noir, which is set to be sent out in early May.
The wine is being sold at $50 for 2 bottles. The proceeds will equally benefit four charities: Give Directly, which gives out cash grants to families in hard-hit areas, Direct Relief, which has been donating PPE to healthcare employees, the Frontline Responders Fund, which donates ventilators to hospitals, and America’s Food Fund, which is a collaboration between Feeding America and World Central Kitchen.
In times as stressful as these, it is humbling to see celebrities helping society by using their platforms to create something fun, interesting, and, most importantly, beneficial to those suffering the most from the current issues plaguing our nation.
Kutcher and Kunis have sampled the wine, and agree it is delicious, being big wine drinkers themselves. They have hosted a few virtual Zoom happy hours with friends and family throughout the quarantine.
The wine is available for purchase in bundles of 2, 3, 6, or 12 bottles. For $240.00, you can secure 12 bottles, which will last you through at least a week of social distancing. The label is sleek and modern, and we cannot wait to toast to our friends and co-workers in virtual happy hours with Quarantine Pinot Noir!
