Meet Tara Marie: Badass Beauty and Hair Blogger

We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Tara Marie, a passionate beauty blogger who also covers phenomenal tutorials on her youtube channel. Read below for beauty tips, makeup advice, and hair hacks.

What are your favorite natural ingredients to use in your hair?

My number one favorite natural beauty ingredient to use is honey. Following honey, I love different oils like olive oil, coconut oil and black castor oil. Aloe Vera and avocado are great as well and the best part is you can mix and match these to make amazing hair masks at home!

How did you become fascinated with makeup?

I was always interested in makeup because of the artistry and creativity. I got my first makeup kit for my 8th birthday and I was hooked ever since. For me, makeup is a great way to express myself and personality.

What do you do for dry hair?

If my hair is dry, I’ll usually deep condition that week using a moisturizing deep conditioner. For extra moisture, I’ll also do a hot oil treatment before shampooing with olive oil. When styling, I always use a leave-in conditioner so my base is moisturized also.

What are simple ways to create more volume?

The easiest thing you can do to create more volume is use less product or use lighter weighted products on your hair. Other things you can do is apply your styling products to larger sections of your hair and flip your hair upside down when styling and diffusing. This will lift your hair from your scalp so you don’t have flat roots.

What would you recommend to someone who wants to dye their hair for the first time?

I would definitely do your research and make sure you’re going to a stylist that specializes in color so you can ensure that you’re in good hands. For my curly hair people, make sure the stylist is certified in caring for curly hair so they don’t damage your hair.

I know you have overcome obstacles in loving and accepting your hair. How did you get to a place of such love?

It took years of learning how to style my hair through trial and error to figure out what worked best for me. For a long time, I only thought I looked pretty with straight hair. It wasn’t until I got to college, I started trying to embrace my natural hair more. After I found out how to take care of my curls, I was able to love them more. I’d encourage anyone who is looking to embrace their natural hair to do so! It takes a while to figure it out at first, but it’s worth it and your hair will thank you for it!
