Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and the Success of Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are nothing short of couple goals in many aspects of their relationship. Their success in the film industry while raising children is no small feat, and they manage to do that while being completely adorable.

One of the things we love most about the couple is their unfailing support of one another. No matter what film they are each working on, it seems that they are never too busy to give their spouse the support they need. This past year, Reynolds worked on Deadpool, while Lively was filming The Shallows.

In a recent interview, the Deadpool star admitted to the extreme stress he was under during and after filming. Prior to the film, Ryan had had a history of panic attacks and anxiety. This condition was exasperated because of the expectations surrounding the film. Reynolds credited his wife with his sanity during this hard time, saying, “By the time we were in post, we’d been to Comic-Con, and people went crazy for it. The expectations were eating me alive. Blake helped me through that. I’m lucky to have her around just to keep me sane.”

Reynolds is quick to show us all how big of a role Blake plays in his life in all of his interviews and public appearances. In this way, he is a great example of empowering the women in our lives every single day. While we don’t all have the opportunity to gush about the important women in our lives in a televised interview, we can be sure to remind them as often as Reynolds has reminded Lively.

Empowering those close to us can come in many forms. In Reynolds’ ability to credit his wife for a huge part of his success and happiness, he empowers her by openly acknowledging her role as his partner. By doing this, he reminds us that he values Lively for far more than her beauty and success. She is his partner in all things, and thus plays a huge role in every successful film Reynolds is a part of, and vice versa.

Lively and Reynolds clear support of each other is an example for all successful relationships. We can follow their example by empowering the people in our lives every day. This can be as simple as reminding those close to us how important they are to our success and happiness, though perhaps in a note as opposed to an acceptance speech.
