Smash Broadway hit Hamilton: An American Musical has generated both critical acclaim and stunning box office records. Now, the man behind it all, playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, wants to share his theatrical masterpiece with a lucky winner for an important cause.
On his Prizeo video adorned with the hashtag #Ham4All, Miranda explains the exciting contest he is hosting. In honor of Immigration Heritage Month, Miranda is raising money for the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition. Administered by the Hispanic Federation, the coalition is a team of twelve organizations, including Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) and United We Dream.
The coalition, Miranda says in his video, “does amazing work for immigrants, refugees, and those seeking asylum in our country. You can look them up for yourselves, they do incredible work and we’re just going to help them fight the good fight.”
Here’s how Hamilton comes into the picture. Miranda explains, “post a video of yourself singing any song from Hamilton that you like—any section of any song—challenge others to sing and make a donation at #Ham4All, prizeo.com/Hamilton.”
If you’re not up for singing, just making a donation will do! By donating $10, you’re entered 100 times for a shot at winning 2 VIP tickets to the opening night of Hamilton’s August premiere in the city of angels, Los Angeles! Not only that, but you will also win 2 tickets to the “star-studded” after party, a meet-and-greet with Lin-Manuel himself, plus photos with the star! Wondering how you’ll get there? The campaign runs through July 31st. Once entered, you’ll get an email with a fitting headline: “your karma just skyrocketed!”
Lin-Manuel finishes his note on the Prizeo page by thanking everyone who enters, and by acknowledging the coalition that, he believes, deserves all the credit.
