We all have clothes hanging in our closet or in the bottom of our drawers that we don’t wear anymore. We even do this with appliances and old household items, leaving them in our attics or basements to collect dust. Perhaps we stopped wearing the clothing or using the household items because they stopped being our favorites, the clothes stopped fitting, or the appliances became something we just didn’t need anymore. Whatever the reason you held onto old clothes or household items, there are some interesting and thrifty ways to sell the clothing and household items you no longer use.
Here are three apps that will help you sell your clothing or household items:
Mercari is an app that allows its users to buy and sell a variety of different items and markets itself as a “flea market app.” To get started with the app, simply snap a photo – or four – of the item you are listing, enter a few details, and provide the price, brand, and condition of the item. If you see a brand or item that you like or want to buy, the app will allow you to safely pay for it with your credit or debit card. You can also message other app users and rate buyers and sellers.
According to the website, “Mercari provides a hassle-free and secure way to buy and sell items straight from your mobile device or tablet.” The makers of the app “believe the world needs a place where people can exchange their loved goods. That’s why we built Mercari – to connect people who want to buy and sell things of emotional value through their mobile phones. Mercari has grown to become a leading community-powered marketplace that brings together millions of people every day.”
Mercari is free for download and available on iOS and Android devices.
Depop is an app that works similarly to Mercari in that it allows you to buy, sell, and explore unique items posted on the app. The app is marketed as “the creative community’s go-to mobile marketplace.”
According to the app’s description, “Sell by taking a photo with your phone, follow friends and connect with the people who inspire you, explore Depop shops around the world, and browse the best in vintage and secondhand fashion, rare finds, and your favorite brands.”
Depop is free for download and available on iOS and Android devices.
Gone:
Gone is another app that can help you sell and get rid of items you no longer use. The app is used more for those household items you no longer use like electronics, gadgets, or small appliances.
According to the app’s description, “Simply, snap a picture or record a video of your used electronics, gadgets or small appliances. If Gone determines that an item can be resold, the company will make you an offer. If you accept the offer, Gone might even pick up the item from your home (depending on the city you live in) or send you prepaid shipping materials and a printed label to drop off at any UPS location. It will also list the item and find a buyer for you, so you can just sit back and relax.”
Gone is free for download and available on both iOS and Android devices.
